Elderly Education and Cinema
The panel titled “Elderly Education and Cinema,” organized by the Department of Gerontology at Balıkesir University Faculty of Health Sciences, was held on May 18, 2026. The event, held in the Şehit Öğretmen Aybüke Yalçın Conference Hall of the Necatibey Faculty of Education, addressed elderly education, lifelong learning, and the role of cinema in understanding social structures.
Speakers Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Korkmaz Yaylagül and Prof. Dr. Levent Yaylagül evaluated the representations of aging in cinema from an academic perspective, highlighting the impact of cinema in raising social awareness.
The program also included a film screening and a discussion session. Students and participants had the opportunity to evaluate the relationship between aging, education, and cinema from multiple perspectives.
