Intergenerational Connections Strengthened at BAUN with Lavender Planting

Organized by the Balıkesir University 60+ Renewal University Coordination Office as part of the "Disaster Management and Information" course, the "Intergenerational Connections: Lavender Planting Event" brought together different generations in a shared production area in harmony with nature. The event was held in collaboration with the BAUN Botanical Garden Herbarium and Application Research Center, the Faculty of Health Sciences Gerontology Department, and the 60+ Renewal University Coordination Office. Within this framework, 60+ Renewal University students and Gerontology Department undergraduate students planted lavender together. The event, conducted with the academic contributions of Assistant Professor Dr. Ayşe ÖZDOĞAN DÖLÇEK, aimed to strengthen intergenerational interaction, highlight the contribution of contact with nature to well-being, and support community awareness based on collaborative production. The event was attended by Balıkesir University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih SATIL, the Deputy Deans of the Faculty of Health Sciences Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serap KAYNAK and Assistant Professor Dr. Ayşe KARADAŞ, the Coordinator of the 60+ Refreshment University Assistant Professor Dr. Aslı Gözde AKIŞ, the Assistant Coordinator Assistant Professor Dr. A. Gülay ŞAHAN, and faculty members of the Refreshment University participated. The event concluded with commemorative photos taken after the lavender planting.
